Frisco Verdes & Phil and the Osophers
There's two indy bands in NYC that I want all of you to check out. I can't exactly say they're new, as they've been performing at small, and now, somewhat medium to large gigs lately.
I'm talking about Frisco Verdes and Phil and the Osophers. Click to find out more information.
Frisco Verdes- I don't know much about, really. Sometimes, you don't really need to know about a band to appreciate every bit of them (e.g.- The Cure, and I'm going to keep it that way). I do know a lot about Dom, though. Listen to Veronica. If you don't love this, you're dumb. Download their album HERE (sorry, Dom, if I'm just whoring out your music). Check out Dom's blog HERE. My fave, by far:
(September 12, 2008) "Oh man. The recording studio, friends, is unlike anything else in this here place. Basically, you are paying for time to be artistic. What? So, you do your thing and try not to think of anything else except what you're playing and focusing, but little things sneak into your head from time to time and all of the sudden you find yourself yelling at one of your best friends at 2:30 in the morning. Ah. But. There is a way. Practice, practice, practice. "
Not just a hat rack, my friend.
Phil and the Osophers- comprised of guitarist and lead vocals Phil Radiotes (one of the top 10 funniest people I've ever met- remember Mr. Kameyli's physics class at Riordan?) and drummer Kevin Estrada (one of the top 10 people I've ever met). I ate lunch at the same table with these guys in high school. Knitting Factory in NYC!
Kev, can you upload a zipped file of your albums? Try box.net or yousendit.com. I need to post your stuff on here. The above picture was from the early days of 2005 at my first performance to see them. Knitting Factory in NYC!
