I've blogged about Janelle Monae before and I finally came around to listening to the first 'installment' of her debut album with Badboy/Atlantic, The Chase.
She's decided to release her album (actually, compilation) in a Coheed and Cambria-style format where it's broken up into 4 different "suites". Her first being "The Chase", released last August.
Describing how she sounds is like putting a label on Andrew Bird: it's unclassifyable. Think Andre 3000 production with southern Jazz and a musical theater background from the American Musical Academy.
All in all, she's different. I mean, look at her mini-movie/video for her first single, Many Moons.
Grab it HERE and thank me later.
