Remember, Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist), always shoots these things in busy streets with no other equipment other than a camera and a portable flash. Also, the subjects usually have absolutely no experience as a fashion model. Yet, he consistently takes amazing photos. Lighting is what makes or breaks a photo- not camera.
He's an eye, stylist, prop manager, and photographer- all in one, and people usually overlook that fact and go straight to the garments (which they should, anyway, but I'm just saying). You can tell over the last two years he's directed the shots a lot more (rather than just taking a picture of a smiling pedestrian)- artistic maturity, I guess. But it's all good.
This guy's outfit + Schuman's gorgeous shots = fantastic.
