Hey guys, this is an AWESOME article I read in Gizmodo today about why the Phoenix Lander is dying.
Basically, it was a major success right after it landed. If you saw Wall-E, this thing IS Wall-E. It's self-sufficient. It collects solar power during the day and sleeps at night. Well, the combination of winter (shorter days) hasn't given this thing enough time to collect energy and the colder temperatures is forcing it to give itself CPR. When it dies, a secondary system tries to shock it back to life, and it's worked. But scientists aren't giving him any longer.
Though this article is written very "cheesily" it does offer (in Layman's) a very good insight on what it has done, gone through, and will eventually perish from. See the Gizmodo article HERE.
