Unoriginal Ben Thomas

Ben Thomas is a photographer that has been getting a lot of PR this week. He's called the "City Shrinker". His style is to photograph landscapes from a bird's eye view, then with Photoshop, make it look like a plastic miniature.

Umm, too bad one of the greatest photographers of our time, Vincent Laforet, has already been doing this for years now. It's called tilt-shift photography, and without too much tech info, it's a method of photographer where the depth of field is significantl shortened with the use of expensive lenses to make the illusion of a shallow depth of field, when it's really not.

Laforet doesn't even use Photoshop much to edit- his technique is so mastered that he does most of it during shooting. He's 33 and has already won the Pulitzer Prize for his work post-9/11. His work has been published by Vanity Fair, NY Times, National Geographic, Time, and Sports Illustrated. Please check out his website HERE.

I'm not posting Ben Thomas photos here because he sucks. Due to copyright issues, I can't post Laforets, so please, please, please go to his website. I don't recommend crap.
