Pure fire
Don't adjust your set. It's meant to be pixelated, 8-bit style. Above is the Everyone Nose Remix video. How the hell did Don C get his ass in a video?
Believe it or not, we're entering into a new generation of hip hop and hip hop videos. 100% debatable, but I'm up for the fight. This song is FIRE. Hype Williams has BEEN fire since ~1998 (even though he started in 1992). Notice a few things: 3/4 of the rappers in this song cannot rap. There is not a single girl in this video. There are no Bentleys. It's space-aged 8-bit graphics, a hard ass beat, and hip hop artists with clothes that fits around their waist.
OK, I've posted a lot of shit about N.E.R.D, Kanye, and Nike. I'm not on their nuts- I just really admire their direction and what they've been able to accomplish, even though they all have skeletons in their closets.
I'm going to leave you with Kanye's 3rd version of Flashing Lights- which symbolizes everything I've just talked about. He's a terrible rapper, but he knows his limits and by making his own beats, knows exactly how to sound- it's like someone writing and directing their own movie- it's born from a single mind and what you're seeing/hearing is a culmination of "one" visual/sonic interpretation.
You're seeing less and less Fubus and Phat Farms and more Visvim and Louie V. These guys are pushing merchandise and making it OK to be rainbow. This is a very revolutionary move for hip hop. And I like it.
