Phoenix Lander has... landed!

Hey everyone, the Phoenix Lander is about to land on the surface of Mars after a 10-month trip. It should be landing at about 5PM PST today (May 25). This is really awesome stuff! You can check the spaceship's progress on nasa.gov and see live pictures (though minutes delayed, but still live in terms of Earth time) as this thing lands. No, this isn't from a movie. Finding excitement at 4:34PM when reading "181 lbs thrusters have been ignited to guide the landing platform in the propulsion pressurization system" is what separates me as a man from the boys.

The main objective of this mission is to find water and collect data on the Martian atmosphere to see what is needed to be built- to maintain human life. The Phoenix Lander will touch down one of the softest part of the planet's surface and drill several hundred feet to extract ice samples for study. Dude, trip off how there's WATER and a sustainable atmosphere on our neighbor planet. I think it is crazy that this is happening in our generation, and will probably have to be done within the next 3-5 generations for the human race to survive.

Seeing this is probably why the Vatican believed there to be other intelligent life after all. See story HERE.
